My name is Jiyoung Lee, a dedicated researcher passionate about the intersection of geography and technology. I began my academic journey at Sungshin Women's University in Seoul, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a minor in Information Technology and Computer Software. This laid the foundation for my Master of Arts in Geography at the same institution.
In 2018, I embarked on a doctoral program in Geography at Louisiana State University, guided by Dr. Michael Leitner. My research centers on environmental criminology, using digital imagery and geospatial techniques to expand its boundaries.
An intriguing twist occurred when I pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science at LSU. My master's project applied machine learning and analyzed Google Street images to identify theft hotspots based on environmental criminology theory, resulting in a second master's degree in 2022.
Throughout my academic journey, I've developed expertise in GIS, Remote Sensing, Cartography, and Database Management, along with proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL. I remain dedicated to advancing knowledge in my field through research and doctoral studies. My journey continues, and I'm excited for what lies ahead.
Furthermore, I aspire to become a scholar who contributes to the world through geography. By integrating geographic data and technology, I seek to conduct insightful research in areas such as society, environment, and crime. I also aim to convey diverse information meaningfully and concisely through maps. Through my dedication and research efforts, I am committed to continuously striving for positive changes in the real world, where geography and technology can make a meaningful impact.
